These tables certainly have a rough industrial look to them. They were repurposed from used section of railcar floor, from a choo-choo train. As far as I can tell, they're hard maple and they've been beaten up. The slabs came in 8 foot long sections by 12" wide. 4 Slabs were glued and steel-reinforced from underneath. Walnut plugs were added in hole where the slabs were anchored to the framing of the railcar. Without these plugs, the holes would have been unsightly and a nuance. Stained and coated with semi-gloss polyurethane.
